The next day, I got some work done around the house, and then headed up the road for a party at the Courthouse hotel. There were two parties there that I was invited to; my friend Or's going away party, and my roomate Tom's 20th birthday. Both parties were great fun, but I spent most of my time at Or's. After the courthouse shut we headed down to the Zanzibar. I ran into a girl in the street who had been knocked out when a guy kicked her in the head. After she woke up we sat with her until her brother came to pick her up.
I was pretty shaken up after seeing the girl, but I headed into the Zanzibar where everyone was well and trully pissed. After a couple of "filthy" martinis, we headed up to Istanbul on King to get some food. The details after this are a little confused, but I ended up at home at about 5 am.
The next day, I stayed at home and did some reading and cleaning, and generally had a quiet day at home. I went over to say my final goodbyes to Or on Sunday night, it was sad, but I know we'll meet again in the future, maybe here, or in his homeland of Spain.

]]>Since then though, alot has changed. After spending a fantastic new year on Stockton beach, just north of Newcastle with some of my favorite people in the world, I returned to work at Unwired. I couldn't handle the coldness of the corporate world.
I never said anything to the people at my world about it, but they knew. Soon I developed insomnia, and mixed with the depression, it mean my immune system became kinda useless.
Then it happened, glandular fever. I was bed-ridden for two weeks and I don't think I have ever been that miserable in my life. I went and stayed with my folks in Bathurst for a week, because I literally didn't have the energy to look after myself. One day, i woke up in the morning, and wrote an email to Unwired, telling them I resign.
A few weeks later, after the majority of my symptoms were gone, I enrolled into a Bachelor of Naturopathy at Nature Care College in Sydney. Now I am studying hard, and happier than ever. I am not working at the moment though, so the money thing can be a bit of a pain. Also, I moved out of Newtown. I now live in Annandale, which is nice, but not as nice an area as Newtown.
I still have a little fatigue from the glandular fever, but I am feeling much better.
I finish my first term in two weeks, and hopefully, after that, I will have many more amazing photos and stories to share.
That's right I'm Back!

All I really did was catch up with some old friends for dinner. Apart from that it was a chilled out weekend, on my couch watching movies under a warm blanket.

]]>This weekend was an interesting one, starting with an outing with some friends from work on Friday night. We left work just after eight o' clock and headed to Mr Mary's in Redfern. It involved all of us drinking too much and singing Karaoke in front of the bar until very late in the evening.
After that, a quick trip to Flinders Bar in Darlinghurst for a few drinks. After we left the bar, most people went home, but a few of us went back to good old Newtown for a few more drinks. We got to bed at about five in the morning, well and truly mashed.
I spent Saturday just chilling out and watching movies, nothing really exiting, but it's all I could have asked for after the big night on Friday.
On Sunday, we spent the first half of the day lounging around outside, on our new outdoor futon (that we found in a nearby alley), drinking wine and listening to music. In the evening Sen took me to Greenwich, to show me where he grew up. It is a beautiful area, but I would really like to see it during the day.
It feels really nice to be out and about again, and I intend to start my exploration of Sydney again, with heaps more photos.
I'm really Exited!

]]>I have had the flu really bad and was bed ridden for three days.
And lastly, I went to a housewarming last night, and helped to save the life of a girl who was passed out in the street and not breathing. It was like something out of a bad American teen drama. The ambulance came and gave her a shot, and she was fine. It was still really scary though.
I am working this weekend, but starting next weekend, I fully intend to get back to exploring this huge city that I now call home.

]]>We spent the day playing games such as pass-the-parcel, piñata, and a game where we had to translate sayings from Spanish into English. The prizes were mostly candy, but some lucky employees were rewarded with little bottles of Mexican Tequila (¡I got three!). We of course took these opportunities to take some embarrassing photos.
Lunch was burritos and nachos with non-alcoholic sangria. It was a great day and we all had lots of fun, even if the customers on the end of the phone line kept asking what all the noise and music was. And as the day came to an end, we were all exhausted and need to take a bit of a siesta to finish off a great day at the office.

]]> After a 3 and a half hour trip, we got off the train at Lithgow and hit the minus 2 degree temperature with a scream. It was so cold that my nose went numb. We got in Alana's dad's car and then talked and shivered for the 45 minute trip back to Bathurst. We stopped at McDonalds for a coffee (only to warm us up, I usually avoid the place at all costs), and then we endured another 20 minute drive to my parents farm, at Mount Rankin, just outside of town.
After arriving, my parents, in the true family spirit, popped a bottle of red wine and we (my parents, Alana, and I) sat around drinking until about midnight, when there was a knock at the door. It was Kieran, my best friend since I was about 15. He had only just returned from Ireland a few weeks before, where he had been living for a year. It was really good to see him, but a little surreal. By 4 in the morning, Alana and I were roaring drunk, and Kieran had to head off as he had work in the morning.
The next day, I just lounged around at my parents house, looking through my old books, and walking through the paddocks remembering my country life.
It was really great to see the property so green, after all the years of drought, and as the sun went down that evening, I sat and watched the stars light up the sky. It was amazing! I couldn't believe I had forgotten the amount of stars you can see from the country, and the sky always seems so much bigger out there.
Alana and Samantha, a friend of mine since before I started primary school, arrived at my house and we made our way down into the paddock and lit a bonfire next to an old couch that we had dragged there. We sat around this fire, drinking wine, dancing, singing, talking, watching shooting stars and all those things that three best friends do, until about 4 30 in the morning.
We went up to the house and all fell asleep in a big king sized bed and woke up the next day feeling on top of the world. It was a little strange, until we realised that last night's drunkeness had rolled over onto this morning and we were still very drunk.
After sobering up, I went into town to see Kieran's family for a while, before going to see my Grandparents. It was great to see them, and to catch up.
I then headed up to Alana's house, and we waited there for her friend Krystina to drive us back to Sydney. I realised in the car, that I still had issues from a car accident that I was in a few years ago, because I kept freaking out during the drive. I fell asleep at Lithgow though and I slept through the whole blue mountains.
We arrived home at about 8 30 and went inside and straight to bed, Alana and I had drunk about 10 bottles of wine each over the weekend and we were really exhausted. Monday morning, I woke up to a groaning sound in the hallway, it was Alana and she had developed three days worth of hangover at once. After I woke up fully, I realised that I was hungover too, and so the week begins, feeling out of it, as per normal.

]]>After looking at the house and grabbling our application forms, we headed into the city with Señor, to a talk on astral projection at the Adyar book store near town hall. It was awful! There was a guy there listening to the talk, who kept interupting and making the poor guy doing the talk lose concentration. We stayed there until we couldn't bear it anymore, and then looked around the store at all the amazing books for sale.
After about half an hour we went for some lunch and a beer at the City Hotel. We sat and talked about religion and spirituality for about 40 minutes (inspired by our Adyar adventure). You know that people are truly great friends if you are happy to talk to them about stuff like that. Then we went and got some candy at a Japanese supermarket and headed into Kinokuniya bookstore for half an hour or so before heading home.
The evening consisted of Alana, our friend Julia, and I heading into the Big Echo karaoke bar on Bathurst Street in the city. We sang bad songs at drank bad wine until late into the evening, and then I headed back to Newtown and hung out at a friends place until about two in the morning.
Sunday was a sleepy day, and I just stayed at home and caught up on my reading.
All in all, another great weekend.

]]>When we got of the bus, we headed straight into the Rocks and Bonny started talking to us about all the places that we would go that day. Our first stop was what seemed to be an empty old sandstone building. We walked in, and walked downstairs, straight into the basement. It was so colourful that Eliza and Alana (who had not been there before), just stood and stared for about five minutes. We had entered the Puppet Shop at the Rocks. Puppets of all sizes, from finger puppets, to life sized marrionettes lined the entire shop, and our inner children burst out as we started to look around. There was every kind of puppet imaginable; animals, people, traditional Indonesian shadow puppets, and south east Asian warrior puppets, but all of us agreed, that our favorite puppets on display were the masquerade animals. There were animals of all shapes and sizes, dressed in Victorian style masquerade gowns, suits and of course, masks.
After we managed to drag ourselves out of the store, we continued to walk down George Street deeper into the Rocks. We entered a small shopping center, and found ourselves out the front of Sticky, a store that sells candy. The exiting thing about this store however, is that the candy is all made right in front of the customers. It's a pretty amazing show. After buying some oversized musk sticks, and getting a free taste of Sticky's famous rock candy, we headed out the back door, smack bang into the middle of the Rocks Markets.
We wandered through the markets, drinking homemade lemonade, and looking at all the unique and quirky things for sale. Alana and I got really exited and ended up getting side tracked, and Bonny had to call us to see where we were. We met back up out the front of the Argyle Oracle, a new age shop set up in a terrace house. We looked around inside for about half an hour, before heading back onto the street, and up towards the harbour bridge.
As we made our way up, we came across a park, that was actually on the ruins of 8 terrace houses, built in Australia's early years. We sat around and talked, and just soaked up the atmosphere. Bonny had her camera, so we took some goofy photos, and listened intently as she told us the history of the place.
We then walked down some stairs and into the Argyle arch, a road going through an archway in the stone, that had been hollowed out by the first convicts. We came out the other side in a beautiful little area near Milson's Point, took some photos, and headed back through the arch.
We climbed the stairs to the top of the arch and entered the Glenmore hotel. We headed up to the rooftop bar with our jug of beer, and eagerly awaited our wedges with sour cream and chilli sauce to arrive.
After sitting and soaking up the atmosphere of the pub for about forty five minutes, we headed back down into the Rocks for some dessert. La Renaissance Patisserie was amazing! We bought a croissant (the best in Sydney, so I'm told), and four of the most delicious little cakes I have had in a long time, and took them down and ate them by the Quay. After we had devoured the cakes, we all sat together in the sun and started to giggle. I am still not sure if it was because we had been having such a perfect day, or because of all the sugar we had just consumed. Bonny of course, took this opportunity to take some great photos.
After the four of us had lounged in the sun for about 20 minutes, we got up and wandered lazily to the bus, talking about all the fantastic things we could do in the future. On the bus, Bonny and Eliza pulled a thermos of homemade chai out of thier bag, and we ate musk sticks and drank chai all the way home.
After we arrived back in Newtown, it was time to get the house in order, so Alana and I headed home to clean up a bit. After the cleaning, we headed down Wilson Street to the Carriage Works. Eliza and Bonny were already there, and they showed us around the warehouse, where poeple were preparing for Underbelly, an arts and music festival that will be held this Saturday. There were some amazing exibitions such as a house being put together indoors and a band playing music in time with images projected on a screen. It should be an amazing show.
After we had looked around, Alana and I headed home for a dinner of garden salad and marinated tempeh, followed by a couple of glasses of Champagne.
We then headed out down the South end of King Street to Saint Peters. We arrived at a party known in the area as Déjà Vu, a chilled out music party in the middle of an industrial area. That means no noise restrictions! There were fires lit in 44 gallon drums and everyone was sitting around listening to the live bands and talking. It was great fun. After a few hours of talking and intoxication, we walked back to Newtown for a couple of colourful cocktails before bed.
It was such a great day, and we saw so many different sides of Sydney. There is definately more to come!

Now that I'm living in Sydney though, I figure that I might as well treat it as if I am travelling here. I always seem to enjoy myself more when I'm travelling so this should make my life here more of an adventure. I live in Newtown in the Inner-West, so I will start my adventure there. I am finally exited about living in Sydney.
This is going to be great....
